The indictment charging 10 individuals with various drug distribution and firearms charges in and around Mount Vernon was announced by Damian Williams, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
“This investigation has shut down a violent drug trafficking organization based in Mount Vernon, New York," DEA Special Agent-in Charge Frank A Tarentino III said. "Drugs and guns cause irreparable damage in our communities, and law enforcement is committed to keeping the public safe and healthy.”
Investigators found that between January and November, the defendants conspired to distribute more than 280 grams of crack cocaine, Williams said.
The US Attorney's Office announced that the following defendants were charged:
- Esteban Morales, age 22, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a controlled substance offense
- Ishmael Morales, age 22, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a controlled substance offense
- Travis Swain, age 29, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base
- Bobby Brown, age 45, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a controlled substance offense
- Jonathan Long Sr., age 53, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base
- Dayshawn Rivers, age 32, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a controlled substance offense
- Shanna Lewis, age 31, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base
- Dwayne Hudson, age 38, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a controlled substance offense
- Shonteea Walker, age 22, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base
- Michael Vega, age 36, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base
